A Mantis' Scorn

Mifune-kun,

I received an interesting letter today. It seems that, due to Tsuruchi Munenori's recent affliction, you led the Mantis delegation to Hotei Seido. Another arrived shortly thereafter, from a Matsu of no small renown. Apparently, I am to write a treatise on behavior in court and present said to the Lion Clan. Their interest in our techniques aside, I wish to confirm this with you before setting aside the time such a document would require.

Sincerely, Yoritomo Hogosha

Hogosha-sensei,

Your letter was delivered accurately. In exchange for support at the Imperial marriage ceremony, they simply requested some of your wisdom. At the time, I understood that this was advantageous to our position. Though denied the public offering I sought, they gifted us no small amount of influence; a gift ably wed with a similar offering from the Crane. The Lion, it seems, seek to study the wisdom of the courts as tenaciously as that of the battlefield. I think it an honor that they approached the Mantis with the offer, Hogosha-sensei.

Sincerely, Yoritomo Mifune

Mifune-kun,

I understand and have begun drafting my treatise on the court, though I wonder at your decision. Information such as this should not be traded for temporary influence, no matter how prestigious the source of that influence. Still, with your recent advancement and Aramasu-dono's continued involvement in the Ivory Kingdoms I have little choice in the matter. Do be more careful in the future with the resources you are given. I would hate to reassign you to the mainland, Yoritomo Date is known to be fond of you.

Sincerely, Yoritomo Hogosha
